Kodachrrrrroooommme rant.

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 3, 2008, 6:36 AM
  • Listening to: French Taunter - Monty Python
  • Reading: Chaos- James Bliuck
Whoever said that highschool would be the best days of your life should be shot, hung drawn and quartered. Someone should aso tell them it's an awfully small, narrow worldview and shit like that scares me over how centred it is over one thing. That's probably why I couldn't do that whole 'highschool social circle' thing. Roll on uni. Having been a nerd and doing very well academically, it doesn't mean the people around me were equally nice to be around as the teaching was. Coming out the other side has just shown that I spent seven years with people I will probably have no contact with at all afterwards and frankly I'll have no desire to contact them in the future. It's not like I attempted that much to contact them, (actually, I did for a while and evidently didn't fit into criteria predetermined, I guess) so that was receipricated. Ho hum. On to better things.

At least the parents agree with me :D. They're quite awesome like that. I don't think they've kept in much contact with anyone they knew from school either. I dont think they wanted to. If there's ayone out there still watching me, your thoughts on my rant?

No art for a while, (O RLY?), as I'm in London and lack all forms of art stuff at the moment.

You probably would, plus practice. Give it a go though. :)

With lasers probably more data transfer and weapons related. And yeah, I like maths. :D

aye that is an option i have thought about it, but i dunno if i am competent enough to do it at a profesional level i would imagine i'd have to work at it quite a bit before i could consider it.

When you say lasers how do you mean? lasers as in data transfer, fiber optics and whatnot? or weapons? or just any old laser tech?

you enjoy maths then? numbers are stressfull :D

Go into concept design? That is paid well. You'd be able to use anything combined with the art and computers as well.

Physics as a means to a Ph.d to research (I'm not sure what yet, I'm leaning towards lasers) or getting into the city. Apparently, physics students get hired to work with banks or hudge funds. I'm not picky, thar be lots of money thar. :XD:

eh i dabble in most things, i go where the money is. Thats probably why my dedication is a little lackluster. My actual hobbies are far from computers. I cant stand the machines or the people that work with them its not my scene but its well paid and i need the money to help my family get out of where we live. If art were as well paid i'd leave this career it in a second. My other hobbies arent as well paid either but i do intend on getting a job which involves them. (for long term happyness :D)

I dont intend to stay in this career a second longer than i have to, as soon as i have enough money to start up other things i'll be alot happier.

how do you see your career going? i mean physics isnt really a career choice i would imagine its sort of a means to get to a cross road to then choose a career no?

Yeah, first one is in a week. Don't worry over the Oxford offer, I had plenty of friends outright rejected even though they were 'the right material' and basically all had excellent grades. It's mostly down to chance now.

I take it you still do the computer stuffs then? :D

wow UCL and imperial impressive! i was looking into the possiblity of joining some top uni's when i was in college, i got a conditional offer with oxford for computer sciences but i didnt get the grades, i could blame my college for that and the fact that they never taught us properly and that we were left without a tutor for half the semester but in the end it was down to me not taking it seriously. I should have tried harder. Anyway hope ya get them grades them final exams are gonna be mentally taxing.

Take care, SB

I'm half brit, so it's cheaper to go to university in the UK. Besides, I have offers from UCL and Imperial as I'm predicted AAA in my A levels, not exactly going to turn that down :D. In the UAE, you need to able to speak arabic, which I lack.

yeah i agree, if i lived in english cricles i suppose it would seem more english, but to be honest i hate the typical moaning its always the forigners have done something wrong again or they're bad or they take our jobs and i just see it as ignorance you really need to look at more options rather than just jump on the bandwagon and blame others.

I've been in uni since late 05 i think, its the biggest uni in london and i think one of the biggest in the uk. Its much better than college theres more people and more things to do. Didnt you say you were studing physics? is it not offered at a uni in UAE or would you just prefer studying in london?

Naw, I'm not multilingual, I used to be able to speak a little mandarin when I was much younger (that's gone out the window now) and I speak french reasonably enough. That's about it.

I used to live in London and Kent, I am half brit. The area of Kent I lived in was a bit of a shithole though, I don't think they'd ever seen anyone from outside the country before. London is as english as you want it to be though. It's like Dubai, it's only Arabian to the point of where you interpret it to be. I'll be in a London uni next year.

UAE? Erm, it was growing ten years ago and my parents got jobs here. That's how it goes. Why limit yourself?

SIX COUNTRIES! how on earth did u end up in UAE?

ive lived in one, i mean i've been to others but never lived there longer than a month. Are you multilingual?

I’m from the very very English city of London, I actually live in a borough that is the most diverse place in England (not sure about the world but its definitely varied!) i mean i can walk for a good hour and along as i don’t look in a mirror i won’t see any Englishmen.

Its actually very strange and things are getting segregated even a little hostile. I’m not too bothered most of my friends are foreign i think its because i go to a really big uni so i get to meet people from everywhere.

ah so where are you originally from?

That be a very hard question to ask thar. Let's just say I'm two nationalities due to diplomatic error and a lack of geography skills on the part of whoever was sending my passports when I was five weeks old. As a result, I don't take many things seriously. I bet you wouldn't either. :D I was born in New Zealand, my parents are brits and I've lived in six countries. Hoo ha.

Which part of the UK are you from, by the way? Hey, you never know when you might have to have to use seven different words for weed. You could be hi-jacked onto a bizzaro mastermind contest with specialization in drug culture.

ah so where are you originally from? Due to my expertise, general intelligence and unique ability to gather facts i had come to conclusion you wasn’t a native. Clever huh? :D

I do have to say you are quite well spoken, where I live and where I’m from constantly deprives me of the opportunity to test my vocabulary. But then again some of the language used in my borough has taught me new and entirely useless words. I mean I'm never gonna need need seven different ways to say “weed” :O_o:

Y hello thar. Er, yeah.

It's fine. Like a transplanted version of some areas of America combined with just about every nationality in the world, with a lot of interesting paradoxes. There's no oil in Dubai. It just self perpetuates itself and I don't know how long that will last. It really relies on its own image, there isn't as much money out here as people might think. Tourists come here expecting it to be Las Vegas. Erm, wrong. The money generally goes to the local investors and very rich expatriates. I'm just a third generation lower middle class expatriate. Been kicking round as an expatriate since I was five weeks old.

I hear you on how much time it can take, but the initial sketch looks alright. Your work size looks good as well. :) Don't worry, I've got half a gig of stuff I've never returned to.

Maths and electronics are awesome. But yeah, most of it is a preemptive strike on conversation. I agree with you on religion as well. The more fundie sects here are quite odd, especially after I've told them twice I'm not interested.

i have been over before and stolen the cookies! did you not notice the shortage?:D

i started an Angelina Jolie piece months ago, i got as far as starting the face but i have since cleared out my gallery and deleted it from DA [link] <=== thats as far as i got. It took way tooo long.

and no i totally agree with you, ive no problem with religion but despite my protests that i just dont want to be converted they still try! cool about the physics, i study electronics and maths and all that laborious, meticulous conversation killing stuff.

Yeah. Sorry if I came off slightly assholish though; I have no problem with whatever people want to believe in, but intentionally propagating bad facts and science makes me hit the roof. (Doing physics at uni next year :D).

Thanks. You've got two great pencil pieces up as well. Ever thought about going into digital with painter using their pencil brushes or something? (Come to the dark side of art. We have cookies and tablets).
